Employment History
At 16 ½ years old I was a nursery maid with the children of Sir Lionel and Lady Fandel-Phillips, Eaton Place then I went down to their country place at Stisted Hall, Braintree, Essex. The Children were sent to boarding school so I took over as 3rd housemaid and stayed there for 3 years. The head housemaid, Lottie, got me a job at Chatsworth House with the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire in Derbyshire.
From there I went on to Sidmouth Manor for Colonel Balfoura then to Peak Hill. (See Photo) From there to Lord and Lady N Victor Pagets in Gloucester Road, then off to Scotland for the shooting season with Colonel Barclays at Crimonmongate Lonmay in Peterhead and Fraserborough.
Came back from Scotland went to Captain and Mrs Duveen, Gloucester Drive then went to the Country village called Swillet near Chorley Wood, Hertfordshire. From there went home and did daily work with Ms Cooke, Pats Croft Island for nearly 10 years.

83 Mum fell at home in early September and was badly bruised and shaken, she recovered quite well but never really got back to her old self. During the last week of September she started to deteriorate and was finally admitted to Wexham Park Hospital in Slough for observation on 30th September. We now know that it was very likely an underlying illness of which we were not aware that caused the fall and consequently put her body into a severe decline. It could not cope with the healing process as there were no white or red blood cells being produced as she had Severe Aplastic Anaemia which took her on 4th October 2005. Schofield, Joan (P1)
